New highly innovative approaches to ease the use of the service landscape and thereby enable new IT-supported business opportunities is the focus of one of the leading European research projects in the area of Service Composition – ASG (Adaptive Service Grid). This session presents the latest ideas and results in the areas of semantic service specifications, dynamic service composition and adaptive process negotiation and enactment.

Das Ziel von ASG (Adaptive Services Grid) – einem der führenden Europäischen Forschungsprojekte im Bereich Service Composition – ist es neue, innovative Ansätze zu entwickeln, um existierende System- und Service Landschaften für Neuentwicklungen besser nutzbar zu machen. In diesem Modul werden die Konzepte und Ergebnisse hinsichtlich semantischer Beschreibung und dynamischer Verkettung von Web-Diensten und adaptiver Prozess Verarbeitung vorgetragen. Am Beispiel eines mobilen Tourismus Szenarios und eines B2B Supply-Chain Szenarios für Internet Dienstanbieter wird der Innovationsgehalt der erzielten Ergebnisse diskutiert.

Semantic Web Services aim to combine Semantic Web technology with Web Services, thereby providing an integrated solution for realizing the vision of the Semantic Web. By using ontologies as the semantic data model for Web Service technologies this ensures adoption of the Semantic Web. Furthermore, semantically enhanced information processing allows development of high quality techniques for automated discovery, composition, contracting, and execution control for Web Services, thus enabling the promise of Web Services to become a reality. The Semantic Web Service session will provide a hands on session of components and technology developed in one of the leading European research projects in that area, DIP, and presents prototypes in the telecommunication, e-Banking and e-Government sector demonstrating the added value of Semantic Services.

Semantische Web-Services leiten eine neue Ära in der automatisierten Verarbeitung von Web-Diensten ein: Mit Hilfe von Ontologien können künftig Web-Dienste auf konzeptueller Ebene beschrieben und miteinander verknüpft werden. Durch semantisch aufbereitete Interface Beschreibungen können Dienste unterschiedlichster Herkunft automatisiert Informationen austauschen und verarbeiten. Der Workshop vermittelt Praxiserfahrungen und Mehrwerteffekte zum Einsatz von Komponenten und Technologien, die im Rahmen des EU Forschungsprojektes DIP (Data, Information and Processing Integration) für den Einsatz in Telekommunikation, eBanking und eGovernment entwickelt wurden.
